GIVE VALUE TO TOMORROW'S FOOD

At the intersection of the agricultural world and consumers, Avril is at the center of the food transition challenges. The Group’s ambition is to take concrete action for more sustainable food, for people and the Planet.

FEED MORE AND FEED BETTER

With rapid global population growth, the improvement in lifestyles and changes in food regimes, it is estimated that global protein demand will increase by 20% between 2020 and 2030.

At the same time, the agricultural sectors are having to invent new, more sustainable models faced with the climate emergency and consumer demand: more local but accessible food, with guarantees in terms of ethics and traceability.

The agricultural world must meet two challenges: produce more, but better, to feed people and animals, while protecting the Planet.

AVRIL, COMMITTED PLAYER TO THE FOOD TRANSITION

“Nurturing Mankind” has been a central element of Avril’s mission for nearly 40 years. For Avril, the food transition is above all an opportunity to grow and share value.

INNOVATE TO IMPROVE TOMORROW'S FOOD

Innovation is central to Avril’s approach. To contribute to providing better food for people, the Group is increasing its initiatives:

  • In line with consumer expectations, the Group is developing its oil brands (Isio 4, Puget, Costa d’Oro, Lesieur). On the program: more organic products, more oil from classic regions, including France, support for local sectors and improved traceability.

2021: Launch of the first 100% French organic rapeseed oil by Lesieur

  • Avril signed a partnership with the Dutch company DSM, specialized in health, nutrition and sustainable lifestyles. This partnership will give rise to a joint rapeseed protein extraction project for human foods. This is a global first and a step towards greater protein autonomy in France and Europe.

2022: First production expected

  • To develop a 100% French organic sector, Avril and the Terrena cooperative have set up Oleosyn Bio. This entity produces vegetable proteins to feed animals, as well as sunflower and rapeseed oil for human food. The objective is to develop a lasting sector that provides outlets and visibility to farmers and helps strengthen French food sovereignty.

2026 objective: use 100% of French seeds.
