The Scientific and Technical Council: a forum for discussion to inform Avril's strategy

In a rapidly changing world, where agricultural, food and environmental transitions are profoundly redefining economic and industrial models, science plays a key role in anticipating, innovating and taking action. With this in mind, Avril created its Scientific and Technical Council (CST) three years ago, an interdisciplinary exchange committee to inform its strategic thinking and guide its innovation choices.

A collective of experts at the service of Avril's strategy

Chaired by Gilles Trystram, CEO of Genopole, the CST brings together, two to three times a year, a dozen renowned experts from research and industry. Specialists in materials science, process engineering, consumer behavior and biotechnology, they provide an informed perspective on the transformations underway and help Avril to:

  • Better understand the emerging issues related to its business lines and global challenges (regenerative agriculture, energy transition, new consumption patterns, etc.)
  • Challenge its innovation programs and guide its technological choices
  • Anticipate scientific and industrial trends to position itself as a pioneering player
  • Strengthen its network of experts and promote knowledge sharing.

Strategic thinking for a more sustainable industry

The CST opens up new areas of reflection and explores the innovations that will shape Avril’s future. A recent example? Artificial intelligence: how can it contribute to the reduction of the industry’s carbon footprint, the optimization of the nutritional value of products, and the improvement of energy management in factories? These are all questions that have been discussed in the Council’s latest sessions and that will guide the Group’s development.

Science at the heart of Avril's sustainable solutions

As Paul-Joël Derian, Avril’s Director of Innovation, Sustainable Development and Incubators, points out:

éclairage
The planet is facing global change that is creating high expectations for research and innovation. At Avril, we mobilize a wide range of expertise to develop sustainable solutions: improving agronomic performance through better knowledge of soils, designing new protein ingredients in line with changing diets, and decarbonizing industry with biofuels and sustainable chemistry solutions."

By placing science at the heart of its approach, Avril ensures that it makes informed and responsible decisions, in line with its commitment to more sustainable agriculture and industry.
